Veteran's Day Program

The Moulton High School Student Council presented a beautiful Veteran’s Day
Program on Friday, November 11 th , to honor veterans both past and present for
their service. Local boy scouts, Andrew Guyn and Trenton Meisetschleager,
presented the colors for the program. Hannah Siegel lead the crowd in the Pledge
of Allegiance and Texas Pledge. The invocation and benediction were given by
Trevor Freytag and Angelina Guzman, respectively. Student Council President,
Tais Gomez, welcomed all and presided over the ceremony. Our superintendent
and veteran, Dr. Todd Grandjean, gave opening remarks and reminded us all to
individually thank the veterans we know and love. Jaycee Lowe introduced our
own Science teacher and veteran, Sergeant Steven Drozd, as the guest speaker.
He spoke to the kids about his missions, his family members that have served and
how special it is to him to serve in the community that he grew up in. We are so
grateful to have him working with our students. The Moulton Band, directed by
Joel Whittington, honored us with several songs including, “The Star Spangled
Banner” and “God Bless America.” Third through sixth graders, lead by George
Koudelka, sang “God Bless the USA,” with pride. Individual veterans that attended
stood as Katelyn Buehring and Kamryn Darilek named each one, along with their
branch and rank. Tatum Langston and Tony Guzman named those in our
community that have given their all in the name of the United States. Colby
Blahuta, MHS sophomore, played “Taps” to reflect on these individuals. Kaitlyn
Gallegos presented a poem and elementary contest winners were announced by
Luis Zuniga and Nicolette Ibarra. Jamie Dornak, MHS principal closed the
ceremony, telling of her family members who have served. The ceremony was
beautiful, humble, and fitting of our soldiers that serve both now and in the past.
Happy Veteran’s Day to all.
