Meet the Teacher
After graduating from Moulton High School in 1998, I attended Southwest Texas State University and graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English and Journalism in 2003. While it was my passion and dream to enter the education field, life had other temporary plans, and I worked as a Petroleum Landman for eight years. In 2012 I finally decided to follow my heart and get back to my roots - teaching. I enrolled in an alternative certification program and began my first year of teaching at Yoakum High School in 2013. Following my year in Yoakum, I taught one year at Hallettsville Junior High and then four years at Sacred Heart School before making my way back home to my alma mater. I am currently teaching 7th grade English, 8th grade English and Reading, 11th-12th grade English, and Theatre, as well as UIL Literary Criticism.
I live in Shiner with my husband Brian Nieto, another Moulton native. We have three children: Kaitlyn, a sophomore at Stephen F. Austin State University, Emma, a junior at Shiner High School, and Felix, a 4th grade at Shiner Elementary.
